I'm about to start reading British native Simon Winchester's 2003 bestseller Krakatoa: The Day the World Exploded about the massive Indonesian volcano. I've always had a fascination with natural disasters all the way back to writing a junior high school research paper on hurricanes when I was growing up in Miami. A story just came in from CNN an Arizona man caught leaving water bottles in the desert for illegal immigrants has been sentenced to 300 hours of community service and a year of probation.

The Government Accountability Office has released a new report studying the accuracy of the E-Verify database. According to the report, the number of tentative non-confirmations has decreased by 5% over the last two years, an indicator that the system has more complete records than in the past. My H-1B expires next year (after 6 years). I have been here 10 years (on J-1 and then H-1B visa). My employer isn't in a position to apply for Labor Certification, although they want to continue hiring me. I want to stay (no relatives here etc.). I know after one year, I can return on a new H-1B if my employer will petition again but it is messy and I want residency. I am from Britain. Help!!!

We are looking to talk to a good immigration lawyer and seek opinions on the following
(1) H1b visa transfer process for physicians after residencies into a jobs
(2) How to handle licensing issues - murthy.com has some info, but we need a better perspective
(3) Green cards for physicians - eligibility and time frame and minimum requirements etc..
Any any other pitfalls or booby traps that one has to be careful about.
A lot of physicians do visit IV website - am wondering if there are any user groups or forums on web that discuss potential issues and other stuff that we discuss on IV.

I am new to this forum.
Is there any difference in timline to file a GC for sibling in "Family member of a permanent resident in a preference category" AND "Family Member of a U.S. Citizen in a Preference Category".
I am a GC holder right now and would like know, if I should wait to become Citizen or file GC for my sibling now.

Dear Attorney,
My I140 got approve from A company when I was working in company B.( I applied for I140 from company A and left the company after 5 months due to some reason). My approved I140 is still valid as I went to USCIS website and check the case status using EAC number.
This is my 5yr on H1 visa.
My question is:
- Can I transfer my H1 to company C using A company I140 EAC number and get 3 yrs of extention? ( I only have EAC number of approved I140. A company have refused to give me copy of approved I140 as I left the company.).

One of my friend who is an accountant's H1 visa was sponsopred by a non-accounting firm who needed an accountant who is familiar with accounting pratices here is USA and India. Now that the firm who initially hired him and sponsored his visa doesn't have a full time accountant requirement and he is finding it difficult to find an accounting firm to sponsor his visa. But the firm who originally hired him is willing and has an opening to place him in an accounting firm as accountant. But since the firm who originally hired him is not an accounting firm is there any legal issue in doing so. If it is legal, what should the either of the firms and/or he should do as far as paperworks are concerned.

My online case status changed to the following information "On April 22, 2010, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283". I am applying for my family and I but my 3 year old sons update is RFE??? I havent received the letter yet but I was wondering if anyone else found themselves in this situation and if so what was the outcome?
